Abu Dhabi: The International Astronomical Center (IAC) has unveiled a photograph of the crescent moon signifying the commencement of Dhu Al Hijjah 1445 AH. Captured on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 06:00 AM GMT by the Astronomical Seal Observatory in Abu Dhabi, the image shows the moon approximately 11 degrees from the sun, with a visibility period of 15.7 hours.
This lunar sighting sets the stage for the upcoming Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha festivities. Arafat Day will be observed on Saturday, June 15, followed by Eid Al Adha on Sunday, granting UAE residents an extended weekend from Saturday to Tuesday, with work resuming on Wednesday.
