The official name for the UAE National Day celebrations has been announced as "Eid Al Etihad," emphasizing the theme of "union" (Etihad) and commemorating the unification of the Emirates on December 2, 1971. This theme is central to the country's identity, symbolizing heritage, unity, strength, and national pride.
Every year on December 2, the UAE hosts a grand show typically attended by the Rulers of the Emirates. Although this year's location remains undisclosed, the organizing committee has announced multiple activations across the seven Emirates in designated 'Eid Al Etihad zones'.
This year's National Day holiday marks the last long weekend of 2024, with December 2 and 3 falling on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, creating a four-day holiday when combined with the weekend.
Eisa Alsubousi, Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs for the Organizing Committee of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad Celebration, expressed excitement about inviting everyone to partake in the celebrations. Comprehensive guides have been created to support sustainable festivities, encouraging government entities, private companies, schools, and families to download these resources and participate.
The 53rd Eid Al Etihad will highlight the importance of sustainability and collaboration, urging residents to minimize waste, recycle, upcycle, and reuse resources. For instance, existing decorations can be repurposed to celebrate Eid Al Etihad. Organizers have provided guides on how to participate sustainably, ensuring everyone can contribute positively whether at home, school, or work.
