UAE initiated National Mosquito Control Program

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), the Dubai Municipality and the relevant local authorities, announced the implementation of the National Mosquito Control Program that started on October 1, 2022, and will continue till February 28, 2023 across the UAE, coinciding with the insect breeding season. The Ministry calls on the public to cooperate with the pesticide company and facilitate its task.

Preventive Measures:

What precautions can we take to reduce the spread of mosquitoes?

  1. Fix water leaks to stop water pooling and stagnating
  2. Dry out rainwater puddles and stagnant water that are breeding grounds for mosquitoes
  3. Clear out unused items stacked in dark and damp places
  4. Grow mosquito repelling plants, such as basil, citronella and lavender
  5. Cooperate with regular mosquito control programs
  6. Treat stagnant water in irrigation ditches, swimming pools and fountains by draining them if abandoned, or covering them or regularly stirring the water if they are in use.
  7. Discard any excess water in the drainage plates placed beneath planters

Follow safety precautions:

Stay away from places where pesticides are being sprayed during or after the spraying process for a short period of time.

If you are an animal breeder or farmer:

Wait at least one week before consuming any animal or vegetable products that have been

sprayed with pesticides

Wash vegetables and fruits thoroughly before eating them to get rid of residue
